Who owns what
What you post remains yours. A list of ingredients is usually not protected, but your own texts, photos and videos are. By publishing you grant GhostChef a free, non-exclusive licence to show your content in the app and let it be shared through the share function (see section 6 of the terms of use).
What you may post
Only recipes, photos and videos you have the rights or permission for. You confirm this in the app with every public upload. Dish photos are taken live with the camera. Do not copy texts, photos or videos from cookbooks, websites or other creators without their permission.
What others may do
Other users may view your public recipes, cook them and share them through the share function. Screenshots of recipes are blocked in the app.
Reporting an infringement in the app
Open the recipe → ⋯ → Recept melden → Auteursrecht, or tap Rapporteer gerecht at the bottom.
Reporting an infringement by email
Without the app: send an email with this subject so we recognise it quickly: [PLUM] GHOSTCHEF_COPYRIGHT
Open the report form in your email
Include: your name and email address, which recipe or account it is, which work is yours, why it is an infringement, and a statement that you are reporting in good faith. If you act on behalf of someone else, say on whose behalf. Do not send your national ID number or a copy of your ID card.
Please note: an AI reads our email. Every email sent to app.ghostchef@outlook.com, including reports made in the app, is read and sorted by an AI assistant: Grok by xAI (US). Only include what is needed. Decisions are always made by a person. More information
What we do
A person reviews the report as quickly as is reasonable. If it is valid, we hide or remove the content and email the uploader why. For repeated infringement we may close the account. We let you know our decision. We ignore reports made in bad faith.
Counter-notice
If your content was hidden after a copyright report, reply to our email and explain why you do have the rights or permission. A person reviews it again. If the two parties cannot agree, a court ultimately decides; GhostChef is not a judge between users.
What we do with your data
We only use the data in a notice or counter-notice to handle it. So the uploader can respond, we may give them your name (or the rights holder’s name) and a description of the work. We do not share your email address unless you agree. We keep the notice for up to 12 months after it is handled, or longer if there is a dispute. More in section 2.9 of the privacy policy.
